N_F.22 Work with children in an artistic and circus project (Nicaragua)

Description of the project:

The organization is an innovative project to educate young people who are in precarious family situations where poverty, drug abuse, physical/sexual abuse, gangs and other criminal activities are an unfortunate part of daily life. For developing a team of performers, trainers and future managers of the project the school has a focus on Nicaraguan adolescents. European countries and many places in Nicaragua and Costa Rica have been their stage for more than 400 performances in theatres, circus tents, schools, parks, cultural centers etc. for an audience of more than 50,000. They are also trainers for the children on the outskirts of Granada, who come every day to the project house with a beautiful garden. There they receive a lunch and a place to be creative. Through theatre, clowning, the art of mime and circus skills students will discover how to respect themselves and others when taught that they can make a living from this art.

Your tasks:

  • Teach the children and adolescents: clowning, the art of mime and techniques of representation, improvisational theater, storytelling& writing, magic, contemporary Dance, Jazz, Tap, Latin, set design and props, acrobatics, juggling, puppets, marketing
  • Teach them math, physics, chemistry and English; also computer and graphic design skills
  • Help to prepare their meals and do creative activities and games in the afternoon
  • Work schedule: The working hours are flexible and depend on what kind of activities you would like to do
  • Vacations: Easter week and Christmas


  • Minimum stay: 2 weeks
  • Spanish level: At least basic, but some intensive Spanish lessons are recommended
  • Skills and expertise: Creativity or maybe some special skills in sectors like: handicrafts, theater, music/ instruments, dance, circus or other artistic fields to impart the knowledge to the children and adolescents

Accommodation, Benefits and Costs:

  • You can stay with a host family (from 50 US$/ week incl. breakfast), in a shared flat (from 35 US$/ week), or in a hostel (from 5 US$/ day in a dorm room)
  • Proyecto Mosaico books your lodging, Spanish school and your transportation from the airport, furthermore we offer individual assistance provided by the office in Granada before, throughout and after your stay
  • For our work and our services we ask a one-time-only fee of 250 € – regardless of the length of your stay
