N_H.11 Support eco-farming and the environmentally friendly generation of energy (Nicaragua)

Description of the project:

The organization proposes a constant process of training and organizational strengthening enabling to realize strategies for environmental management and impact on the development of sustainable energy production and ecological farming methods. The organization contributes to the sustainable and ecological local development by means of mediation between the objectives of conservation and protection of eco-systems, as well as the interests of the use of natural resources and biodiversity. One important aspect of their work is training students (and farmers) on aspects of renewable energy and ecological crop crowing.

Your tasks:

  • Help with eco-farming at the model finca
  • Learn more about different methods of energy generation (wind & solar power, biomass & geothermal energy)
  • Support workshops for students and farmers about sustainable energy and ecological farming methods
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – noon and from 2 – 5 p.m.

Requirements:

  • Minimum stay: 2 months
  • Spanish level: Basic
  • Skills and expertise: Interest in environmental and sustainable development, interest in eco-farming and environmentally friendly generation of energy, cultural sensitivity and openness to learn new skills

Accommodation, Benefits and Costs:

  • Stay with a host family (from 50 US$/ week incl. breakfast) or a shared flat (from 35 US$/week)
  • Proyecto Mosaico books your lodging, Spanish school and your transportation from the airport, furthermore we offer individual assistance provided by the office in Granada before, throughout and after your stay
  • For our work and our services we ask a one-time-only fee of 250 € – regardless of the length of your stay
