United Nations World Water Day 2012
– ¡A limpiar el Gran Lago!

Lago Cocibolca, the largest lake in Nicaragua and source of drinking water, is very affected by water pollution that is getting worse every year. For this reason, World Water Day, which has been in existence since 1993, was celebrated in Granada in 2012. Proyecto Mosaico, the local organization Puedo Leer, and the Environmental Agency of Granada organized an event to pick up garbage in the area. In addition to clean up, there were various activities to raise awareness such as information boards, short films, stories about water, and art made of garbage.

We would like to give thanks to all the volunteers, the public’s interest (Newspaper article about the garbage collection at Lago Cocibolca – Nuevo Diario – 20/03/2012), and to our partner organizations for collaborating.
